Internal Scholarships

  • John Jeffereson David (JJD) Scholarship provides travel support for graduate students attending meetings and conferences.Please check out the document for more information on deadlines, requirements, and more. Learn more
  • Anna Grant Birge Memorial scholarship is a Summer Research Scholarship Award call for proposal announcement. These awards are available to graduate students in the field of limnology. Please check out the link for information about eligibility and more. Learn more
  • The Department of Integrative Biology has more scholarship opportunities some may be eligible to FMS students. Check out the site to learn more about these scholarships. Learn more
  • Since FMS is an interdisciplinary graduate program no one’s advisor is housed in the program. Your advisor’s home department may have other scholarships that you are eligible for. I would highly recommend checking out that department’s scholarships page and check in with your advisor about this. 

University & External Fellowship Opportunities

  • The Graduate school recommends and uses the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Fellowship Finder. It’s a great tool when searching for external fellowships.
  • The Graduate school’s fellowship office has some sponsored fellowship opportunities. They also have other resources when looking for external fellowships. This includes their forward funding series. It has various events and workshops to support students looking for external fellowships.
  • The University has a Student Research Grants Competition. They have two awards, one to support travel expenses for students presenting research at conferences and another to support students traveling to conduct research supporting their dissertation, thesis, or final exhibition.
  • Aldo Leopold Graduate Research Award some students in FMS may be eligible for the award
  • The institute for Regional and International Studies (IRIS) manages its own funding opportunities and coordinates the campus component of a number of external programs. Many of these scholarships are for working/studying abroad.
  • The University also has the Grants Information Collection for help with your funding search.
  • The Wisconsin Hub is a site with much more scholarship opportunities for undergraduate students but there are some options for graduate students.
